Most of us all dread that alarm clock in the morning. It’s a loud reminder that we have responsibilities to get to, and it’s time to get up and get to them. While it may be something you dread, with the right routine, it can be a way to set you off on a successful day.
- Don’t “Snooze”
Yes, I know it’s tempting. We all want just 5 more minutes. But really, you feel much more awake if you train your body to wake up at the first alarm than you do if you push snooze 10 times. Plus, if you push snooze too many times, you might end up late, which is the worst way to start the day!
- Don’t Check Your Phone
We are always glued to our phones – checking our emails, our texts, our social media. Give yourself a phone free ten minutes when you first wake up. It’ll let your mind truly wake up. You’ll be able to think about what the day has in store for you, pick out your outfit, brush your teeth, or whatever your routine might be.
- Don’t Stress
Yesterday’s over. You can’t redo it and you can’t take anything back. Today you get to start fresh. What a gift that is! So, there’s no sense on stressing on something you can’t change. Focus on what’s in front of you and you’ll be on your way to a great day!
- Drink Some Water
Hydration is a great way to start your day. Now, we’re not saying replace your morning coffee. We know that’s a part of your morning routine as much as anything else. But a glass of water really helps jump start your organs, it helps your metabolism get going, and it’s healthy!
One of the most important parts in waking up is getting out of bed. I know I find myself saying, “Oh, I’m just resting here for a few more minutes.” I’ll be the first to admit that this is a bad habit. My “resting” can easily turn into more snoozing. It’s important to get out of bed. Do some stretches! The best way to wake up in the morning is to wake up your body and your mind, and stretching helps to do this by getting your blood flowing!
