As the saying goes, April showers bring May flowers. That’s all fine and dandy for May. Everyone loves flowers! But a month full of rain? Even the biggest lovers of rain would have time only seeing the silver lining to that! But let’s not forget all of the fun things that we can do in the rain that you can’t in flowers. You can’t puddle jump in flowers. Everyone loves a good day to snuggle on the couch and watch movies, but you don’t want to use a sunny day for that! You need rain! Let’s explore some of the fun things we can do this month while we prepare for May’s flowers.
1. Paint with Raindrops
Rainy days are perfect for crafting, but when you think of crafting on a rainy day I bet you’re thinking of all of the ways to stay inside and stay dry. Try something different this month! Get some powdered paint in an assortment of colors. Sprinkle some of the powder onto a piece of heavy white paper (construction paper works great!). Now for the painting! Set your pieces of paper on a trash bag outside and watch as raindrops turn your powdered paint into a beautiful masterpiece!
2. Learn to Cook your Favorite Meal
Everyone has a favorite meal. The one that mom or grandma always cooks when you come to visit. But it’s also a meal that you usually have the least because you know there’s noooo way you could ever make it as good as they could. Well, use your rainy day to perfect the recipe so you can enjoy it as much as you want! Yum!
3. Go to an Amusement Park
I know what you’re thinking. I’m supposed to be giving you ideas to avoid the rain. But in my experience, no one goes to Amusement Parks when it’s raining. I once went to Disneyland and get to ride Splash Mountain 5 times in a row without getting off because there was no one in line. Now you probably think I’m crazy. Splash Mountain in the rain? What difference does it make if you’re already what?! So, take advantage of the less busy day. Head to your closest amusement park or even waterpark, and have some less crowded fun! Yay for no lines!
4. Check out your Local Museum
So being out in the rain isn’t for you? Taking a stroll through your local museum is a perfect activity to keep you dry and out of the rain! Most cities have at least one museum, whether it be a science museum, a history museum, or an art museum. If you don’t already have one in mind, a quick search can find the closest one to you. Why not spend some time learning on a rainy day?!
5. Have a Personal Day
What are some of the things you’ve been wanting to or meaning to do for yourself? Maybe you need to paint your nails. Maybe you want to finish your book. Maybe your house needs a good clean, and while not the most fun, it will make you feel better once it’s done. Maybe your dog needs a bath. You could build something, or fix something, or organize something. You could even finish your taxes. Doing any of these things, while they all seem like small tasks in themselves, will make you feel much better and accomplished once they’re done. So, start the bath, throw in some bubbles, and take a soak, or whatever it may be that you want to do, because it’s your day!
