Last Minute DIY Gifts for Dad

Father’s Day is just a few days away. For some of you, you’ve had your plans set and finalized for months. For others… this was the moment you realized it is this Sunday. Uh oh. What are you going to do? Don’t worry! We’ve got your back! We compiled some great gifts for dad that are easy to make last minute!

1. Breakfast in Bed

Breakfast in bed is the ultimate last minute gift because it doesn’t seem last minute (and may not be!). It’s a great gesture to show your dad how much you appreciate him and doesn’t take much planning, prep or set up. Take your dad this menu the day before or the morning of and let him pick his favorites!

2. Special Pictures

Parents love pictures of their kids, especially if they are doing or showing something meaningful in them. Maybe you’re not a cute and adorable little kid anymore. If you have kids, parents LOVE pictures of their grandkids. The sad, but inevitable, truth is once you have kids, they go into grandparent mode you are somewhat replaced (especially all of the pictures of you) and want to show off your kids instead of you. Try one of these for your dad! He’ll love it!

3. For the Cheesy Dad

For those of you with a corny/cheesy dad like me who loves “dad jokes,” a cheesy gift will be perfect! If your dad loves being punny and telling jokes like, “A horse walks into a bar, and the bartender says, ‘Why the long face?’,” these gifts will be a hit. In fact, you could make him a joke book of your favorite dad jokes that he tells. If you don’t want to encourage him, try one of these punny gifts that will be sure to make him laugh.

4. Useful Gifts

There are tons of things you could get or make your dad that he will appreciate immensely AND be able to use. Sneakily get one of your dad’s old ties (ask mom first) and make an easy but extremely useful glasses/sunglasses holder. Does your dad have a particular hobby he enjoys? This golf gift is not only meaningful, but it provides him with things he needs to play! What about something to hold those special pictures he has? You could make/customize a picture frame just for him, or you could make this fun hammer picture holder. It’s super easy and requires a minimal amount of things to make it. Check out the tutorial here. Another fun idea is for the dads who value some special TV time and who love having the power of the remote. If this is your dad, make him this sneaky remote holder! Tutorial here.

What do you plan to get your dad? Share your ideas here. We would love to know!
