In 2016, BH Management has made it a primary initiative to help battle childhood illnesses and to give back locally to our communities. This
quarter we chose to do a garage sale to raise money for Easter Seals Camp Sunnyside. This organization makes it possible for a child to go to camp for the first time, for a person who thought they would never work to get a job, for caregivers to have a much-needed break, and most importantly it provides hope to thousands of people living with a disability that they can overcome any barrier and have a great life.
We are very excited we were able to donate to this great organization. We were also very excited about being able to have a garage sale! We all have plenty of things that we can weed out of the back of our closets or items in storage boxes we no longer need, so to be able to do this for charity was even more motivating! The garage sale was held at one of our local properties. They were kind enough to donate 2 garages so we could have a true garage sale. Those 2 garages were hardly enough after all of the donations we received! We were overwhelmed by the generosity of the BH community members.
Our wonderful volunteers set up shop on Friday and Saturday, June 10th and 11th. While braving the scorching heat, they were able to sell 95% of all of the item, with all leftover items being donated to St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store and the ReStore by Habitat for Humanity. In addition to the proceeds made from the garage sale, our corporate office held a live auction for some high ticket items. Everyone had a blast watching our Director of Marketing become an auctioneer, and all of our items (Kate Spade watches, a Michael Kors bag, BOSE Bluetooth headphones, and more) went to happy and generous homes.
With these 2 events combined, we were able to donate over $2000 to Easter Seals Camp Sunnyside! They shared with us that our donation will support their clients to live, learn, work and play in their community. If you are interested in learning more about what they do, we encourage you to visit their website. If you are interested in donating, we encourage you to take a look at the sponsorship opportunities for their upcoming Sunnyside Regatta and Admiral’s White Party. To learn more about where our other donations went, feel free to visit the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store site and the site for Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore where you can find the location closest to you.
