Holiday Movie Synopsis

The holiday season is known for many things. One of the things people wait all year for are the holiday movie releases. Movie studios all wait until this time of year to release their biggest award contenders and most talked about films of the year. Here’s a quick run-down of the movies you don’t want to miss this year!


  1. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

The next story in the infamous Star Wars saga is sure to be a hit and a sell-out movie this holiday season. New to the Star Wars family, Felicity Jones stars in this story, set in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Get your ticket to see a group of unlikely heroes attempt to steal the plans for the Death Star.



  1. Passengers

Set far into the future, Passengers brings Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt back to the big screen. While on a journey through space, two passengers are woken up from their suspended animation 90 years too early. As the only two passengers awake on the ship, it’s up to them to save everyone.



  1. Manchester by the Sea

Casey Affleck’s return to the big screen brings us this dramatic story, full of awards buzz. His character is shocked by the news that his brother who just passed away made him sole guardian of his nephew. This surprising revelation takes him back to the small town he grew up in where he is forced to deal with his past.



  1. Jackie

This story takes a deeper look into the historic assassination of President JFK, but from a new perspective: his wife, Jacqueline Kennedy. Natalie Portman takes on the emotional role, showing the world the dramatic and devastating details of a notorious day in our country’s past in a way we haven’t looked at it before.

Jessica Chastain takes on the role of Elizabeth Sloane in this political drama based in Washington, D.C. As one of the most sought-after lobbyists in DC, with her no-lose attitude, she quickly becomes the target of many powerful enemies. Her defiant stance on certain issues now puts her career and her loved ones in danger.



  1. Collateral Beauty

Will Smith plays a successful New York advertising executive in this dramatic, heartfelt drama. Smith’s character experiences an excruciating personal tragedy that causes him to retreat from life. Because of this, his colleagues formulate a drastic plan to make him confront his grief and an unusual way.



  1. Allied

The newest World War II drama brings us a romantic thriller starring Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard. Pitt plays an intelligence officer while Cotillard a resistance fighter. The two fall in love while on a mission to kill a German official while having to juggle conflicts with their employers and their relationship.



  1. Bleed For This

Miles Teller stars as real-life Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil” Pazienza, in this the based on a true story movie. Pazienza is a local boxer in Providence who shoots to stardom after winning two world title fights. At the top of his career, he has a near-fatal car accident leaving him with a broken neck and doctors telling him he may never walk again. In true underdog fashion, Pazienza goes against all odds and his doctor’s orders to return to the ring just a year after his accident for possibly the last fight of his life.
