BH News: NMHC Rankings Released!

Exciting news coming from the National Multifamily Housing Council! They have released their annual list of largest apartment owners and operators, and BH finds itself towards the top again! See our press release below:


DES MOINES, IOWA – BH Management Services, LLC and BH Equities, LLC are pleased to announce that the companies have once again been listed among the nation’s largest apartment owners and operators according to the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC).

BH Management Services, LLC ranked 12th on the list, down one spot from 2016, with more than 67,000 units under management; and BH Equities, LLC climbed four spots to number 13 with ownership in more than 51,000 units. The BH Companies are one of only seven companies who rank in the top 20 on both lists.

In addition to core assets in major markets, BH specializes in value-add properties that it rehabs and repositions. Throughout 2016, BH added more than 40 properties to the portfolio and sold more than 50, representing a total transition of more than 28,000 units with another 4,000+ units currently under contract.

Both BH Management Services, LLC and BH Equities, LLC are majority-owned by founder Harry Bookey. Bookey serves as Chairman and CEO of BH Equities, and Chairman of BH Management Services, which is operated under the guidance of its President, Joanna Zabriskie. Founded in the 1990’s, The BH Companies are some of the fastest-growing organizations in the multifamily industry.

The BH portfolio expands across 20 states, with properties as far west as Arizona and Colorado and as far east as Florida and Virginia, with the largest concentration of properties in the state of Texas and the southeast. In total, the company employs more than 1,700 multifamily professionals, including more than 180 in Iowa.

The National Multifamily Housing Council has provided the top owner and manager lists for the past two decades, giving companies a reference for different trends taking place in the industry.
